General information
Peregine is a town in the Trento province in the north east of Italy with a population of 21,000 inhabitants, characterized by the intergenerational demographic structure. The province of Trento is a wealthy region with a significant autonomy from national government as well as €800 million of additional national resources with which to support employment and economic development in the province. This enables it to provide significant financial support to municipalities in the region. Pergine has a strong co-operative tradition, with several found in agriculture, industry, artisan crafts and trades and in social services. There is a diversified economic structure with numerous small units of production, little dependency on exports, a strong public sector and a high level of tourism activity. These factors help explain, like in the Trento province as a whole, has been able to resist the economic crises. The unemployment rate, although rising, remains low. The town is characterized by a high level of citizens involvement and the municipality is open to develop new methods of collaboration with citizens.

Coordination group (Local Support Group)
For the URBACT Together project it was necessary to establish a Local Support Group. In Pergine this has been formed by the Commission for the Implementation of the Social Plan (2008-2010) and by the Commission responsible for the Youth Policies. The idea is the one of continuity with the work done in the previous years with the Social Plan and the Youth Policies.
The Coordination group are composed of members of:

Small jobs for young people

Collective vegetable gardens
Here the municipality provides the vacant land, organizes the launch of the event to attract potential users and encourages the involvement of the local bank which finances the seeds and tools. The users decide on the type of crops they want to grow, how the plots are organized and any sales. Among the users are young people, asylum seekers and is managed by an elderly women. The harvest is distributed amongst participants and charity organizations.
